If I was powder painting a part for my car then yeah 30 minutes at is fine. When you do jigs if you spend 30 minutes baking a jig and then tie it on and lose it on the first drop, well did it really have to be that hard? Do some for 5 minutes at and when they cool drop them on the floor. If they chip do them for 10 minutes at and try them. But if they don’t chip then you were done at 5 minutes. All I can tell you is I have never had any troubles with this the way I do it and the only time I have had hooks breaking, everyone else had the same issue at the same time. They came that way from the Mfg. First time it happened it was a big shock, then next time it happened was they moved which plant they were making them at and again they just didn’t follow what they learned from the first problems.

They eat dead and live baitfish on the bottom, and also can be caught suspended in open water when they are feeding on open-water baitfish, like shad. Top baits for blue cats include shad and skipjack herring. Recent giant blue catfish over 80 pounds have been caught on cut chunks of Asian carp bighead and silver carp.
Depending on the size of fish sought, whole baitfish or cut chunks and fillets of a variety of baitfish types can be used. Which habitats they use often depends on the season and flow conditions. But even in mid-winter, a few days of mild weather can draw them shallow to feed. On reservoirs, structure such as points, humps, saddles, and submerged creek channels attract baitfish such as shad and blue cats that move in to eat them. Blue cats move seasonally, typically downriver in cold water and upstream in spring to eventual summer locations.
Similar movements occur in reservoirs, where blues generally spend winter in deep water near structure, moving uplake into shallow creek arms and feeder rivers in spring. After spawning, they settle into summer patterns, following and feeding on baitfish schools in the main basin, although they can ben found lakewide depending on how widespread baitfish are distributed. Blues also can suspend in open water.
Slipsinker rigs are good for catching blue cats where a stationary rig on bottom is desired. Another favorite is the three-way rig, which can be used as a stationary rig or drifted along bottom or higher in the water column in rivers and reservoirs. On a three-way rig, a dropper line holds a sinker, while the leader terminates in a hook.

The wire keeper was an advantage in that the leadhead had no collar to split the soft plastic and the wire holds better than the standard cast keepers. The leadheads hooked and held the fish really well.
General Information Outside the harbor, fishing with live and chunked menhaden aka, bunker, pogies is the ticket to scoring with trophy bass, some up to 40 pounds. Reliable places to find the big, oily baits are the Providence River and Ohio Ledge, but the schools can sometimes be found closer to Wickford in spots like Greenwich Bay and Warwick Point. You can often score by fishing these baits right around the bunker schools, or you can try slow-trolling or drifting them along rocky shorelines and points and near the bottom of deep channels.
Other inshore species include black sea bass, fluke and scup. Like striped bass, the action with these species is best inside the bay in spring and early summer. Fluke fanatics have numerous spots from which to choose, including the edges of Potters Cove, the Newport Bridge and the deep trench off Austin Hollow. If stripers are your quarry, drifting eels, live menhaden or chunks in the aforementioned places is the way to go when the weather gets steamy.
Standard leadhead jigs, diamond jigs and 3-way rigs fished on the bottom will continue to produce in these areas.
Time and Tide and Speckled Trout September 30, Knowing some hot sites for catching specks along the Magnolia Coast’s barrier islands won’t help if you’re not there at the right time. How to Use Soft Plastic Baits. From trout to tuna, plastic baits offer unmatched versatility. you’re tying it to the eye of the hook prevents shrimp bodies and other soft plastics from sliding up the leader after hookup and becoming a target for other fish. And of course, a jig head with a soft body attached is always effective.
By Bob Stearns posted Feb 9th, at 2: Built-in scent and a variety of configurations – shrimp and fish imitations, eels and shad-style bodies with different tail shapes for lifelike action – can be deadly over a wide range of water types and fishing situations. Tuna on the continental shelf, stripers on the jetties, snook and tarpon in the inlets, and redfish and trout on the flats – there is scarcely a situation in which soft plastics can’t do the job.
Soft-plastic lures, in all their sizes, shapes, colors and styles, can be almost as effective as natural baits. File Photo Think Skinny Soft plastics are especially effective for flats fishing, sight-casting and surf fishing because they land quietly. They can also be used right on the surface when rigged weightless. A plastic shrimp is ideal for this when the internal weight is removed and the hook positioned so that it sticks out at the bottom, keeping the body upright.
So is a 4- to 8-inch slender plastic body rigged weedless on a large-gap hook, a deadly rig for fishing shorelines and structure. Many anglers sight-fishing on grassy flats remove the internal hook from a plastic shrimp and rig it without the tail fin to swim backward on a larger hook.

Rain dimpled the cove, which is located some forty-five miles out of Valdez but only a few minutes run away from Ravencroft Lodge, where I had spent the night after a day of salmon shark fishing off Hinchenbrook Island. Silver salmon were jumping along the shoreline as far as we could see. They were concentrated in a channel on the east side of the cove, gathering to enter the feeder streams in which they would spawn.
It was flat calm and the cove was alive with silvers andpinks.

My second cast was an immediate hookup with a nice.
Twice in the space of about two weeks, we sped across the calm surface of Badin Lake as dawn broke, searching for stripers. We found a big school at Buffalo Creek the first morning, if I remember correctly, and caught a dozen or so fish. The next time, we worked two or three different places before approaching the mouth of Glady’s Fork. There we saw one fish suck down a surface shad about 50 yards in front of the boat. Two hours later, we had boated 56 fish, most of them between 4 and 8 pounds – typical Badin Lake stripers for the late s.
The other day I was reminded of Hill, who guides intermittently at Badin when he finds time between managing rental properties. This time after I climbed into Troy Roberson’s slick Key West bay boat – rigged to the nines for stripers and hybrids at Jordan Lake – I noticed something similar about the rigs hanging from some of the rods in his rod-holders.
The bucktails looked familiar – boxing-glove style.

The wire keeper was an advantage in that the leadhead had no collar to split the soft plastic and the wire holds better than the standard cast keepers.

These jigs are known for their blunt and wide football-shaped jigheads.
